Judge Muhammad Bashir of the Accountability Court, who is well-known for his work on high-profile cases, filed for a second leave of absence on Saturday, claiming that he is too stressed mentally to continue in his role.

The judge has asked for vacation until his retirement in March. He was the one who recently jailed PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Tosha Khana case.

According to those with knowledge of the aforementioned development, Mr. Bashir is unable to continue due to hypertension that he believes is caused by the demanding nature of his profession. He has requested a leave of absence twice in the previous ten to fifteen days. Notably, the judge applied for leave last week but later retracted it.

Judge Muhammad Bashir has drawn notice for his important role in high-stakes trials. He is now overseeing the 190 million pound reference against PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.

His prior involvement in the Tosha Khana case resulted in Imran Khan and his spouse receiving prison sentences. It is important to remember that Judge Muhammad Bashir became unwell during the Adiala Jail hearing of the Tosha Khana case. His blood pressure suddenly spiked, according to sources, and he was taken out of Adiala Jail to recuperate.

Judge Muhammad Bashir is a powerful figure in the judiciary, having presided over cases involving six Prime Ministers during his career.
