Oil prices drop after Trump Iran war statement began trending in global markets after remarks by former US President Donald Trump about the conflict with Iran.
According to market data, oil prices drop after Trump Iran war statement by around 8 percent in international trading. Investors reacted quickly to the possibility that the conflict could end soon.
Brent crude oil prices fell sharply after the announcement. The price dropped about 8 percent and reached nearly 90 dollars per barrel.
US crude oil prices also declined during trading. The price fell from around 89 dollars to nearly 87 dollars per barrel in the international market.
The change came after Donald Trump spoke in an interview with CBS television. He said the war against Iran appears to be largely completed and may end soon.
Trump also addressed a Republican conference where he talked about oil-related restrictions. He said the United States is removing some oil restrictions to help reduce prices.
Earlier in the previous trading session, crude oil prices had climbed above 119 dollars per barrel. The sharp increase had raised concerns in global energy markets.
Following that rise, G7 countries signaled that they may use emergency oil reserves. This step also helped calm markets and supported the decline in prices.
Analysts say that statements about geopolitical tensions often affect oil markets quickly. The latest comments about the Iran conflict played a key role in the recent price movement.
