ISLAMABAD: Islamabad’s Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday announced its reserved decision, granting bail to 250 individuals arrested during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests held on November 26 in Islamabad.

ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain heard the bail application on Thursday in 13 cases filed across 10 police stations in the federal capital.

The court granted post-arrest bail to 18 PTI supporters linked to the Bani Gala case, all accused in Kohsar Police Station cases. 43 individuals in another related case were granted bail.

Nine accused were granted bail in the case registered at Shazad Town Police Station, and 17 in the cases at Noon Police Station. The ATC also approved the bail pleas of 70 others in the Aabpara Police Station case.

The court ordered those granted bail to submit surety bonds of Rs 5,000 each.

Moreover, the court also rejected the bail applications of 150 other accused individuals involved in the same D-Chowk protest.

During the hearing yesterday, the lawyers of the accused and Prosecutor Raja Naveed appeared in the court.

The defense lawyer told the court that around 146 accused are Afghan citizens residing in Pakistan. They were picked from their homes in Karachi Company and Tarnol. In total, 421 people have been nominated as accused in separate cases.
