35% increase in salaries of TTS teachers approved

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has approved a 35% increase in salaries of teachers serving under the Tenure Track System (TTS) in universities, effective from July 1, 2026.

According to an office memorandum issued by the Ministry of Finance on Friday, the federal cabinet, while ratifying the Prime Minister’s decision of September 20, 2021, approved the TTS Pay Package 2026, under which the existing salary scales of professors, associate professors and assistant professors have been revised.

According to the revised scale, the minimum salary of TTS professor has been increased from Rs. 394,875 to Rs. 407,230, the annual increment has been increased from Rs. 19,305 to Rs. 20,320, while the maximum salary has been increased from Rs. 684,450 to Rs. 712,300.

Similarly, the minimum salary of associate professor has been increased from Rs. 263,250 to Rs. 370,810, the annual increment has been increased from Rs. 15,356 to Rs. 18,320, and the maximum salary has been increased from Rs. 493,590 to Rs. 645,610.

The minimum salary of an assistant professor has been increased from Rs 175,500 to Rs 288,020, the annual increment has been increased from Rs 12,065 to Rs 17,720 and the maximum salary has been increased from Rs 356,475 to Rs 553,820.

The office memorandum states that the basic salary of TTS teachers in service on June 30, 2026, will be transferred to the same stage in the new TTS-2026 scale at which they are holding in the existing scale.

The Ministry of Finance has clarified that the financial implications of this revision will be met by the universities from their own resources and the federal government will not accept any additional financial responsibility in this regard.
