LAHORE: Earthquake tremors were felt in Lahore and several surrounding areas on Saturday, causing panic among residents who rushed out of their homes and offices as a precaution.
According to the Seismological Centre, the earthquake measured 4.9 on the Richter scale and originated at a depth of 18 kilometres. The epicentre was located in the Kashmir border region.
The tremors were felt across different parts of Lahore, prompting citizens to move to open spaces. Eyewitnesses reported scenes of panic as people gathered outside buildings following the quake.
Authorities said no casualties or property damage had been reported in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake. However, officials continued to monitor the situation and assess any potential impact in affected areas.
Pakistan frequently experiences seismic activity due to its location on the boundary of major tectonic plates, making earthquakes a recurring natural phenomenon in various parts of the country.
