5.3 magnitude earthquake shakes Islamabad, Peshawar & Northern cities

ISLAMABAD: Severe tremors were felt in various cities including the federal capital Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Peshawar.

Tremors were also felt in Samahani, Azad Kashmir and Bhimber. Tremors were also felt in Murree.

Tremors were felt in Dir Bala, Dir City, Peshawar and surrounding areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Tremors were also felt in Bajaur and surrounding areas.

According to the Seismological Center, the magnitude of the earthquake was recorded as 5.3 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan and its depth was recorded at 234 kilometers.

Due to the tremors, citizens came out of their homes in fear and recited the Kalima Tayyaba.
