Rahmat Shah appointed Afghanistan's Test and ODI captain
KABUL: The Afghanistan Cricket Board has appointed middle-order batsman Rahmat Shah as the captain of Afghanistan’s Test and ODI teams.
According to the Afghanistan Cricket Board, Rahmat Shah has been appointed as the captain of the Test and ODI teams, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been appointed as the vice-captain.
According to the Afghanistan Cricket Board, Rahmat Shah has been appointed as the captain after Hashmatullah Shahdi stepped down from the captaincy. Hashmatullah Shahdi led the Afghanistan team in 55 ODI matches.
Rahmat Shah had been serving as Hashmatullah Shahdi’s vice-captain since 2021.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board says that Rahmat Shah’s first assignment as captain will be the series against Ireland.
Rahmat Shah made his international debut in 2013 and has played 128 ODIs and 12 Tests for Afghanistan, giving him extensive experience.
