PESHAWAR: At least five people were killed in different incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) on Monday, according to police.
In Swabi, a school principal and teacher were shot dead by unknown men in the Shagai village of Panj pir area; both the deceased were cousins, identified as Aizaz and Hamza.
The reasons for their killing remain unknown. Rescue 1122 teams arrived on the spot, and both bodies were shifted to Bacha Khan Hospital.
Meanwhile, three people, including two women, were killed in a kitchen dispute in Peshawar. According to the police, the incident took place in the area of Dawoodzai Shah Alam police station.
Earlier, Journalist Latif Baloch was tragically shot dead inside his home in the Mashkay area of Awaran district in Balochistan, officials confirmed on Saturday.
According to police, unidentified gunmen barged into Baloch’s home and opened fire, killing him on the spot. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and law enforcement officials say they are probing from various angles to determine the motive behind the targeted killing.
The killing has sparked outrage within the journalism community and beyond. Leaders, members of civil society and press freedom advocates have condemned the killing, calling it another setback for press freedom in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province.
