ISLAMABAD: Accountability Court in Islamabad on Saturday has dismissed the acquittal pleas of former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and other accused in illegal appointment of former chairman Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) Tauqeer Sadiq case.
The court on Saturday issued the detailed verdict in the case. The court has ordered continuing trial against all accused in the case including former PM Raja Pervaiz Ashraf. Six accused including former prime Makhdoom Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani have been named in the corruption reference.
The court dismissed the petitions of former secretary Sikandar Hayat and former executive director OGRA Javed Nazir. NAB has also field corruption reference against former chairman OGRA Tauqeer Sadiq.
The court declared that Raja Pervaiz Ashraf was the chairman of Tauqeer Sadiq appointment committee and Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani was the appointing authority, while Tauqeer Sadiq’s educational qualification and experience was less and his educational documents were also unverified and experience shown by Taquee Sadiqd were proved fake.
The court in its order said that the accused misused their authority and also failed in fulfilling their responsibilities. The individuals who were neglected in appointment of Tauqeer Sadiq were appeared as witnesses.
