RAWALPINDI: An Afghan national involved in terrorist activities inside Pakistan was killed during an operation in the North Waziristan district, the military’s media wing said on Saturday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release, security forces conducted an operation in the Datta Khel area on February 6.

“The individual was later identified as Luqman Khan alias Nusrat (Afghan National), son of Kamal Khan, resident of Spera District, Khost Province, Afghanistan,” it read.

The ISPR statement added that local authorities have approached the interim Afghan government authorities to take over the body of the individual, being an Afghan citizen.

“Such incidents are irrefutable evidence of the involvement of Afghan Nationals in terrorist activities in Pakistan,” the statement read.

“The interim Afghan Government is expected to fulfil its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for perpetrating acts of terrorism against Pakistan.”

Attack on Bannu checkpost

The statement came hours after two police officers were martyred in a terrorist attack on the Fatah Khel police post in Bannu district, which was the second assault on the installation in two days.

Bannu district police officer (DPO) said the attackers stormed the post and managed to escape after the attack.

The previous night, terrorists had also attempted an assault on the Fatah Khel police post, but security personnel successfully repelled the attack through swift retaliation.
