RAWALPINDI: Aleema Khan said that the Punjab government and the Punjab Home Department want to isolate Imran Khan by using video link trial in the GHQ attack case and that a video link trial will never be accepted.

Speaking to the media after his appearance in court, she said that Imran Khan was shot and even after being injured, he insisted that there should be no video link – that the trial should proceed only if Imran Khan appeared in person.

Imran Khan’s life was in danger, despite his request, a video link trial did not take place. Now they will not allow it under any circumstances. Imran Khan should be produced in court from jail, video link will not be accepted.

Aleema Khan said that she wants to silence Imran Khan but she will work for his early release. Cases have been registered against Imran Khan. If his lawyers are here in jail, how will he consult them? The purpose of the video link is to isolate Imran Khan.

She said that all this is happening because of the 26th Amendment. Lawyers gather to protest against 26th Amendment.

The purpose of hearing Imran Khan’s case through video link is to prevent him from meeting his family and lawyers. After the Toshakhana trial, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi will be put in prolonged solitary confinement. With the jail trial, family members get a chance to meet Imran Khan.

Aleema Khan said that the women who threw eggs at her were caught by party workers and handed over to the police. Both the women who threw eggs were caught but released on higher orders. Some people come to the Adiala and defame the media.

“If a woman throws eggs when her son is present, imagine how the son will react. The woman who threw eggs came again yesterday; our worker identified her and caught her but the police released her again. Yesterday this woman threw stones – next time she can also shoot,” she added.
