Islamabad: Central Leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) Khawaja Asif has expressed optimism about the future of Pakistan, stating that the country has been saved from default, and collective efforts will lead to the eradication of inflation.

During an exclusive interview with ABN News, Asif highlighted the importance of unity in addressing national challenges, emphasizing that midterm elections could be held either three months or two years from now.

Khawaja stressed the significance of the existing alliance and suggested the possibility of considering midterm elections. Regarding allegations against Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s purported meeting with a former ISI chief in 2019, Asif confirmed the meeting’s occurrence and discussed political strategies.

He clarified that the matter was between the individual and the founding party, with no involvement from his party. Referring to the issuance of tickets to defected members of PTI by PML-N, Asif stated that despite receiving tickets, they failed to secure votes.

Asif acknowledged the challenges posed by IMF conditions in 2023, leading to inflation, but expressed confidence that controlling inflation would prevent vote division.

PML-N leader Khawaja Asif affirmed his support for Nawaz Sharif as the Prime Minister and highlighted Maryam Nawaz’s electoral mandate in Punjab. He emphasized that PML-N secured 65% of the votes in Punjab in 2018, despite not receiving Form 45.
