PESHAWAR: Senior Provisional leader of Awami National Party (ANP) Samar Haroon Bilour joined Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz on Wednesday in a meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
Prime Minister has welcomed Samar Bilour to the party, adding that her presence in the party will boost PMLN politics in KPK.
“I want Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to also move on the path of development like the Federation and Punjab,” she said, adding that she is determined to work with the Prime Minister and party leadership to serve the people of her province.
“She will be elected as a Member of the National Assembly on a reserved seat,” he said. Samar Bilour herself has confirmed the decision.
PML-N leader Zahid Khan announced to the media that Samar Bilour has been awarded a reserved seat in the National Assembly by the party.
Before serving as the ANP’s provincial information secretary, Samar Bilour came from a family with strong political background in Peshawar.
She is the widow of Haroon Bilour, a well-known ANP leader who was killed on July 10, 2018, in a suicide explosion at an electoral rally in Peshawar. She also happens to be the daughter-in-law of another top ANP minister, Bashir Ahmed Bilour, who was slain in a similar incident in 2012.
Samar Bilour entered politics when her husband was killed, and on an ANP ticket, she was elected as a member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly (MPA) for PK-83 Peshawar.
Senior PML-N figures, including Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam, Zahid Khan, Sardar Yousaf, and Murtaza Javed Abbasi, attended the meeting at the Prime Minister’s House.
