FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has initiated the “Apna Meter, Apni Reading” program, which is a practical realization of the Prime Minister of Pakistan’s vision of “Digital Pakistan”, through which transparency, efficiency, and accountability are being guaranteed.

FESCO spokesman stated here on Wednesday that “Apna Meter, Apni Reading” is an innovative and revolutionary programme of the Government of Pakistan.

He stated that the prime aim of this program is to empower the consumers of electricity to provide their electricity meter readings.

As per this program, the consumers will be able to provide their electricity reading through the mobile app “Power Smart App”, which will not only enhance transparency but will prove beneficial to remove the overbilling, he further added.

He informed that the Power Smart Mobile Application can be installed from the Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).

Following registration on the app by providing their consumer ID and other necessary details, consumers can utilize its facility “Apna Meter Apni Reading” to capture a photo of their electricity meter on a specific date and upload it via the app.

The photograph of the customer’s meter reading uploaded through this app will be prioritized over the picture of the reading captured within the same billing cycle by the respective Distribution Company.

Though the reading uploaded by the consumers will be taken as final, and on this basis his monthly electricity bill will be drawn up and “Apna Meter Apni Reading” will also be mentioned on the bill with a photograph, he said.

He mentioned that the actual usage of “Apna Meter Apni Reading” is also aiding in decreasing overbilling, reading mistakes, and bill delay.

He also mentioned that this app will prove to be of great use for customers who fall under the protected category, as posting a photo on their due date for reading will ensure that they won’t fall into the non-protected category.

He requested the electricity consumers to maintain a healthy distance from the meter and electricity cables when taking photos of the meter readings to upload on the app, and be mindful of safety regulations because consumer safety is the top priority of FESCO.
