Application details for Punjab Green Tractor Scheme Phase-II announced

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given in-principle approval for phase two of the Green Tractor Scheme, under which around 20,000 tractors will be given to farmers on a subsidy.

According to the details, the Punjab government will provide a subsidy of Rs 0.5 million each for 10,000 locally manufactured tractors with 50 to 65 horsepower.

While Rs1 million of subsidy each will be given for 10,000 higher-powered tractors with 75 to 125 horsepower.

Last year, the provincial government provided 9,500 tractors to farmers at subsidized prices through balloting. The scheme garnered an overwhelming response, with over 1.5 million applications received from farmers across the province.

Punjab Green Tractor Scheme application

The Punjab agriculture department has announced that the application process for the tractor scheme will start in June, and the distribution of green tractors will be completed in September this year.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed continuous monitoring to ensure the presence of green tractors in the field.

In addition to that, the chief minister has also approved several other schemes related to agriculture, including the phase-II of Kisan Cards, under which interest-free loans worth billions.

During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on the Green Tractor Scheme, Model Agriculture, Tube Well Solarization, Agri-Edge, Vet Program, Super Seeder, Citrus, dams, and water reservoirs in Pothohar, Agri-Transformation, and other issues.

Moreover, it was decided to launch the CM Model Agriculture Mall Phase II in 10 districts. Officials said that 98% of construction work has been completed on four Model Agriculture Malls in Multan, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, and Sahiwal, and they will be made functional in July.

More Model Agriculture Malls will be built in Faisalabad, Jhang, Okara, Khanewal, Rajanpur, Vehari, Rahim Yar Khan, Sheikhupura, Attock, and Mianwali.
