At least eight injured after grenade explodes inside Jamshoro police station

JAMSHORO: Eight were injured after a hand grenade exploded on its own due to the heat in the storeroom of the Jamshoro Police Station, police said on Wednesday.

According to the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hyderabad Tariq Dharejo, the grenade exploded after the storeroom got heated up. Due to the explosion two assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), five other police personnel, and a suspect sustained injuries.

According to the police, the injured include ASI Rasool Bakhsh Narejo, ASI Muhammad Bakhsh, police personnel Ghulam Mohiuddin, Irshad Ali Gaincho, Abdul Latif, Jamshed Sanjrani, and prisoner Jamshed.

A senior police official said that six of the injured are being treated at the Civil Hospital Hyderabad, while two others have been shifted to Karachi for further treatment.

A bomb disposal squad also reached the scene of the incident and police cordoned off the station. 

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Mohammad Tariq Nawaz Jamshoro.

“Quality medical facilities should be provided to the injured police personnel. Bomb disposal squad should be called in to investigate the blast,” the home minister added.
