Ayesha Raza appointed as PM’s focal person for anti-polio campaign

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Tuesday appointed Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq of the Muslim League (N) as the focal person of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for anti-polio campaign, here on Tuesday.

According to media reports, on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Ayesha Raza Farooq has been appointed as the focal person of anti-polio campaign, her appointment will be honorary.

The focal person will inform the Prime Minister about the government’s anti-polio measures while Ayesha Raza Farooq will also preside over the meetings of the National Polio Steering Committee.

Reports state that the focal person will oversee the anti-polio campaign in Pakistan and head the task force formed for it. Apart from this, she will also make recommendations for the implementation of the Polio Action Plan.

The focal person is said to coordinate with the international partners of anti-polio and liaise with international donors while representing Pakistan at the international level.

It should be noted that Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq of Muslim League (N) has been the prime minister’s focal person and a former member of the National Assembly in the former government of Muslim League (N).
