Earlier, former member of the Punjab Assembly and former leader of the PTI, Waseem Afzal, has decided to join the People’s Party along with his brother, Gulrez Afzal Chan, a former MPA.

Waseem Afzal Chan was elected as a member of the Punjab Assembly in 2008, while Gulrez Afzal Chan was elected as a member of the Punjab Assembly in 2013.

Both brothers are sons of former provincial minister Haji Afzal Chan and brothers of PPP’s Central Secretary Information and Broadcasting Nadeem Afzal Chan.

The negotiations between the two former members of the Punjab Assembly and the PPP leadership have entered the final stages.

Gulrez Afzal Chan was elected as a member of the Punjab Assembly on a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ticket from PP-43 constituency of Mandi Bahauddin in the 2013 elections.

Waseem Afzal Chan contested the 2023 elections as an independent after not getting a PTI ticket, which he lost.
