BANNU: In a tragic incident, an explosion rocked an under-construction Rescue 1122 building in the Nekam Kaki area of Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to local police reports, authorities said that terrorists had concealed explosive materials in the building, that have damaged the building. So far, there have been no reports of casualties.
The police are looking into the incident to try and learn more details and motives behind the incident. Just days earlier, at least seven martyred, including policemen, in separate shooting incidents in Bannu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the police spokesperson, three separate firing incidents occurred within 24 hours, as well as injuring five citizens, including policemen.
In April, a police officer and a constable were injured when terrorists attacked the Saddar Police Station in Bannu. According to police officials, Station House Officer (SHO) Waseem Sajjad and Constable Hayatullah were both injured in the attack and taken to the District Hospital.
In turn, police responded to the attackers, resulting in the death of one terrorist, while his associate fled. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sajjad Khan and District Police Officer (DPO) Saleem Abbas Kulachi visited the hospital to check on the injured officers and provide support and motivation.
On April 22, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police successfully were able to foil a terrorist attack on the Dharey Pul police post in Bannu. The Central Police Office (CPO) reported that police personnel at the post acted quickly to stop the attack. According to the CPO, approximately 18 to 19 terrorists, riding eight motorcycles and crawling towards the post, were attempting to conduct a coordinated attack.
The group, affiliates of the organization Fitna al-Khawarij, attempted to target an IT camera as part of their attack plan. They shot their weapons and opened fire on the police post from multiple positions, the CPO stated. After a tremendous counter-response by police, the attackers fled the scene before achieving their objective.
