Bilawal Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif ‘agree’ to bring constitutional amendments

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto called on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif today where both discussed the country’s political and economic situation.

During the meeting held at Punjab House in Islamabad, both leaders reached an agreement on judicial reforms and constitutional amendments.

According to the PPP statement, former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari put forward proposals related to amendments for constitutional courts and judicial reforms.

“I wish that constitutional amendments are approved by the consensus of political parties,” Bilawal said in conversation with Nawaz Sharif. PML-N chief assured PPP about considering its every proposal for the betterment of the country.

The coalition parties decided to present the constitutional package in Parliament following further consultation, with the timeline for this process to be determined in consultation with other political parties.

Former three-time Prime Minister, Sharif said the time has proved that signing of the Charter of Democracy was a historic decision, adding that the democracy in the country got stable after the Charter of Democracy.

“All democratic forces have to work together to create a system of justice in which there is no supremacy of any individual, but the opinion of the people and respect for the institutions,” Nawaz Sharif added.

Senior PML-N politicians including Maryam Aurangzeb, Rana Sanaullah, Pervez Rashid, Irfan Siddiqui, and Ahsan Iqbal attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, the PPP delegation included Yousaf Raza Gillani, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Khursheed Shah, Murtaza Wahab, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Naveed Qamar, and Palwasha Khan.
