LAHORE: Bushra Bibi, wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) challenging her arrest in the Toshakhana case.

Bushra Bibi’s petition seeks to have her arrest declared illegal and unlawful. She is also asking the court to take action against the officials involved in her arrest, including the superintendent of Adiala Jail and other personnel.

Moreover, in her petition, Bushra Bibi claims she was arrested without a warrant and alleges mistreatment and humiliation by female officials.

On July 13, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were detained in a new National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference related to Toshakhana, just hours after their acquittal in the Iddat case.

According to sources, the NAB team, led by Deputy Director Mohsin Haroon, arrested the couple at Adiala Jail. This development followed the Islamabad district and sessions court’s acceptance of their appeals against their conviction in the Iddat case.

Earlier this year, the couple was sentenced to seven years in prison and fined Rs 500,000 each after being found guilty of a fraudulent nikah. The acquittal in the Iddat case removes the final legal obstacle preventing Imran Khan from being jailed, though his sentences in the Toshakhana cases were suspended and he was acquitted in the cipher case by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
