By-elections 2025: Polling underway in 6 NA & 7 Punjab constituencies

ISLAMABAD:  By-elections are being held in 6 National Assembly and 7 Punjab Assembly constituencies today.

Polling will continue till 5 pm, out of 2792 polling stations, 408 have been declared highly sensitive and 1032 sensitive.

9 candidates are in the fray in the by-election in NA-18 Haripur. A tough contest is expected between PTI-backed independent candidate Shahrnaz, PML-N’s Babar Nawaz Khan and PPP’s Irum Fatima.

NA-96 Faisalabad seat fell vacant due to the disqualification of Rai Haider Khan, here PML-N’s Muhammad Bilal Badar will face independent candidates Nawab Sher Wasir and Arshad Mahmood.

NA-104 Faisalabad seat fell vacant due to the disqualification of Sahibzada Hamid Raza, PML-N’s Daniyal Ahmed will face independent candidate Rana Adnan Javed in this constituency. Daniyal Ahmed is the son of former opposition leader Raja Riaz Ahmed.

NA-129 Lahore seat fell vacant due to the death of Mian Azhar, here Hafiz Noman of PML-N and independent candidate Arsalan Ahmed are contesting.

NA-143 Sahiwal seat fell vacant due to the disqualification of Rai Hassan Nawaz, here NA-143 is contested between Chaudhry Tufail of PML-N and independent candidate Col (retd) Zarar Akbar.

In NA-185, Dost Muhammad Khan Khosa of PPP and Mahmood Khan Leghari of PML-N are contesting, here 8 candidates are in the fray, NA-185 seat fell vacant due to Zartaj Gul Wazir’s conviction and disqualification in the May 9 case.

PP-73 Sargodha seat fell vacant due to the disqualification of Ansar Iqbal Haral, here 73 is contested by Sultan Ali Ranjha of PML-N against 4 independent candidates.

Haris Nawaz, Haq Nawaz Ranjha, Mohsin Raza are among the independent candidates in PP-73, which fell vacant after the 10-year imprisonment and disqualification of PTI’s Ansar Iqbal Haral.

The seat in PP-87 Mianwali fell vacant after the disqualification of former opposition leader Ahmed Khan Bhachar. The PML-N’s Ali Haider Noor Khan, independent candidate Nawabzada Ayaz Khan and JUP’s Khalid Masood are in the fray.

The seat in PP-98 Faisalabad fell vacant after the disqualification of Junaid Afzal Sahi. In this constituency, 10 candidates are in the fray, including independent candidate Ali Tabassum of PML-N, Muhammad Ajmal Cheema and Wasim Akram Chatha.

The seat in PP-115 Faisalabad fell vacant after the disqualification of Sheikh Shahid Javed. The contest is between PML-N’s Mian Tahir Jamil, independent candidates Muhammad Asghar Malik and Ahmed Tariq Cheema.

PP-116 Faisalabad seat fell vacant due to the disqualification of Muhammad Ismail Sila, Malik Ismail Khan was disqualified in the attack on Rana Sanaullah’s house case, Rana Sanaullah’s son-in-law Rana Ahmed Shehryar is the PML-N candidate in this constituency, apart from him, there is a competition between Malik Asghar Ali Qaiser and 5 independent candidates in this constituency.

PP-203 Sahiwal seat fell vacant due to the disqualification of Rai Murtaza Iqbal, the competition in PP-203 is between PML-N’s Hanif Jatt and independent candidate Falak Sher.

PP-269 Muzaffargarh seat fell vacant due to the resignation of Mian Alamdar Abbas Qureshi, there is a tough competition in PP-269 between PPP’s Alamdar Qureshi and independent candidates Iqbal Pitafi and Abdul Hai Dasti. 17 candidates are participating in the by-election here, the seat fell vacant due to the resignation of Alamdar Qureshi before the recount of votes.
