ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has released a public advertisement asking the residents and traders of Islamabad to clear all types of unauthorised encroachments voluntarily within ten days.
The order is meant to maintain the city’s planned nature, surroundings, and safety of the public, which, according to officials, have suffered due to unlawful buildings and occupations on government land.
In accordance with the notification published by the Building and Housing Control Wing of CDA, it has been witnessed in the area that the authority has found large-scale encroachments upon CDA land and public places, such as unallotted areas, right-of-ways, greenbelts, and footpaths.
Kiosks, sheds, extensions, and recreational centers have all been pinpointed as significant reasons for environmental pollution and urban disarray.
The CDA warned that non-compliance within the given ten-day period would attract strict enforcement and legal action. This would include razing illegally erected buildings, imposing fines, collection of removal costs, and proceedings under the CDA Ordinance, 1960, and other applicable by-laws.
The authority declared it will not be liable for any loss or damage caused during or after removal.
The notice appealed to the citizens and business operators to voluntarily cooperate, saying that it takes everyone’s responsibility to keep a clean, safe, and tidy capital city. The authority again asserted that Islamabad’s beauty and safety hinge on the observance of planning rules and the eviction of all illegal occupations.
