The Water Supply Directorate of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Wednesday began working on the Khanpur Dam Canal cleaning project to address Islamabad’s water shortage in Islamabad and ensure that residents have no problems during the summer, state-run APP reported.

Regarding this, the annual cleaning work of Khanpur Dam Canal has been started by the Water Supply Department of the CDA which will be completed by the end of this month.

Due to the yearly cleaning campaign of the Khanpur Canal, the water supply from Khanpur Dam to Islamabad’s Sectors G-10, G-11, F-10, F-11, and D-12, will be cut by 50%. Sangjani Water Works, which includes Simli Dam, will fulfill the water shortage in these sectors. However, the canal’s cleaning will be finished by the end of this month to guarantee that residents have access to clean water supplies before summer arrives.
