Chairman PTA files intra-court appeal against removal by IHC

ISLAMABAD: The Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Major General (Retd.) Hafeez ur Rehman, has filed an intra-court appeal against his removal from office by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

As per the details the appeal, filed under the 1972 Ordinance, challenges the decision announced earlier today by Justice Babar Sattar, who ordered the removal of the PTA Chairman in a reserved judgment.

The appeal, the petitioner is the serving Chairman of PTA and was initially appointed as Member (Administration) of the Authority on May 24, 2023. He was subsequently elevated to the position of Chairman on May 25, 2023.

The plea emphasizes that Major General (Retd.) Hafeez ur Rehman has been performing his duties in accordance with the relevant rules and regulations. It further states that the appeal has been submitted to legally justify his appointment and tenure as Chairman.

In addition, the appellant has requested the court to fix the matter for urgent hearing.
