Changes in Sindh’s Schools & Colleges for Next Academic Year

Karachi: The Sindh Education Department has announced several changes for the upcoming academic year 2024-2025 in schools and colleges.

Classes in schools and colleges will now begin on August 1, 2024, instead of the previously scheduled date of April 1, 2024. Summer vacation will be from June 1, 2024, to July 31, 2024, while winter vacations are set for December 21, 2024, to December 31, 2024.

For grades I to III, students will be promoted without summative assessments, but formative assessments will be conducted to monitor their progress, with results shared with parents.

Examinations for grades IV to VIII will take place from April 15 to April 27, 2024, grades IX and X in the first week of May 2024, and grades XI and XII in the last week of May 2024. The District Central Assessment and Review (DCAR) will aid in assessment and provide model papers for all levels.

Results for grade X will be announced by July 31, 2024, grade XII by August 31, 2024, and grade IX and XI results will follow 50 days after the announcements of grades X and XII, respectively.

The Sports Week will kick off in the first week of December 2024. Examinations will consist of 20% Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), 40% Constructed Response Questions (CRQs), and 40% Extended Response Questions (ERQs).

Furthermore, a 15-day teacher training session will be organized by the associated wings of the School Education & Literacy Department.
