RAWALPINDI: Chaudhry Naeem Ijaz, a Punjab Assembly member and Parliamentary Secretary from the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has been charged with murder, along with his brothers and associates.
Naeem was booked for killing one person and injuring two others in the Sohal Adda area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Chontra police station.
One person was killed and two others were injured in the firing and violence at Sahal Adda within the limits of Chontra police station.
After the incident, the police have registered a case against the ruling party PML-N’s provincial assembly member and parliamentary secretary Chaudhry Naeem Ijaz, his brother Waseem Ijaz, Nadeem Ijaz, and other associates.
The case was registered on the complaint of the deceased Muhammad Hasnain’s brother and former councilor Muhammad Saqlain, in which other sections, including murder, attempt to murder, aiding and abetting a crime, have been included.
According to the text of the FIR, the deceased’s family has ancestral land in the village of Sahal, which MPA Naeem Ijaz’s workers have been continuously trying to occupy.
According to Muhammad Saqlain, twenty days ago, he, along with other villagers, also protested against the MPA’s land acquisition.
Later, a committee was formed to resolve the matter amicably, and after consulting at Muhammad Irshad’s house in this regard, the deceased reached Sahal Chowk along with his uncle and other residents.
According to the FIR, during this time, Wasim Ijaz, Ali Imran, Ramman Imran, Waheed, and 10 to 15 others armed with weapons, iron rods, and sticks arrived there in Vigo and opened fire and attacked as soon as they arrived.
Muhammad Hasnain, Tajamul Israr, and Uncle Mushtaq were injured in the attack. Hasnain was being shifted to the hospital when he succumbed to his injuries.
The plaintiff has alleged that the attack was carried out at the behest of MPA Naeem Ijaz and his brothers, and the aim was to seize the land.
After the incident, the relatives of the deceased and local people protested vigorously on Sahal Road.
Police officials and ASP President Zainab Ayub ended the protest after negotiations with the protesters, after which a case was registered after conducting a post-mortem of the body and a medical examination of the injured.
