QUTTA:  The inflation storm has intensified once again in the markets of Quetta, where the prices of chicken meat have recorded an extraordinary increase of about Rs 150 per kg within a few days.

According to the latest data, cleaned chicken meat is now being sold at Rs 750 per kg, while its price has reached Rs 780 in some shops.

The price of live chicken is also between Rs 500 and Rs 510 per kg. According to shopkeepers and poultry dealers, the main reasons for this increase are getting chicken from poultry farms at high prices, increase in transport fares, continuous increase in feed prices and sudden increase in demand on the occasion of Eid.

Economists say that the current situation is having a direct impact on the pockets of citizens, due to which it is becoming difficult for the middle class to buy meat.

On the other hand, mutton is being sold between Rs 2400 and 2500 per kg while beef is being sold between Rs 1400 and 1600 per kg, which has further increased the inflationary pressure on meat eaters.

Trade circles say that if immediate steps are not taken, prices are expected to increase further in the market.

Citizens are being advised to buy as per their needs and shopkeepers should also try to provide meat to consumers at reasonable prices so that the impact of inflation is minimized.
