MIRPUR: The Citi Housing Mirpur project has been at the center of controversy due to the allegations of selling plots without the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC).

Despite the Deputy Commissioner Mirpur Mukhtar Hussain’s ban on buying and selling plots without NOC, the project’s advertising campaign and pre-launch activities are reportedly ongoing, with offices opened in various cities in the United Kingdom.

He directed the concerned district administrations to register private housing schemes as per the law and rules, adding that the NOC should not be issued to these housing societies without town planning.

The project has allegedly affected over 1,200 kanals of lush forest in Paljura Town near Mangla Lake, with plans to expand the project to 6,000 kanals.

The Citi Housing is a private housing society project, operating in several across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, offering access to major roads, commercial hubs, and essential facilities. The project offers residential plots of various sizes, including 7 Marla, 10 Marla, and 1 Kanal.

However, the society lacks a proper NOC to operate in Mirpur, on which the district administration has taken action.

On Thursday, the staff of the Municipal Corporation Mirpur removed various types of boards and other equipment installed by the City Housing Society. The advertisement boards were installed at Mega Mart, Chowk Shaheedan, and Quaid-e-Azam Stadium Chowk.

Earlier in May, the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Mirpur shared a circular, warning citizens against buying or selling plots from private housing societies without registration or NOC, with City Housing in particular.

The circular stated that the administration has already banned housing societies from selling plots without registration and NOC.

The document added that City Housing has given an affidavit to the authorities that they will not sell any plot until the registration and NOC process of the society is completed.

However, Daily Ausaf learned that the housing society has opened offices abroad and launched advertisement activities to sell plots illegally.

The administration has cautioned the public against buying and selling project files, warning that they will be held responsible for any losses.
