LAHORE: Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz has announced livestock support for widows and divorcees of South Punjab, here on Sunday.
Maryam Nawaz has launched a historic package of Rs 2 billion for 11,000 disadvantaged rural women of South Punjab. Under this initiative, widows and divorcees will get cows and buffaloes to help them manage their livelihood.
The program will cover districts including Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Layyah, Kot Addo, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Vehari, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Rahim Yar Khan. Beneficiaries can earn a decent income by rearing cattle and selling milk.
The livestock project aims to increase milk production by promoting high-quality breeds. Eligible women from 12 districts can apply for the program, which prioritizes financial empowerment of rural women.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized that prosperity and development are the right of every woman in Punjab and this project will help achieve these goals by increasing dairy and meat production.
