LAHORE: The Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken the initiative to implement the Aqua Shrimp Farming Internship Programme to encourage aquaculture development and create jobs for the youth.
The program intends to thus offer field training to female and male graduates with bachelor’s degrees in fisheries, aquaculture, and zoology.
The internship program will also pay a monthly salary of Rs50,000 for a total of six months, thus presenting a good teaser for the youths to learn practical training on shrimp farming.
Trainees will be taken to a modern shrimp farm based in Muzaffargarh which is managed by the fisheries department. Interested applicants are asked to fill out the internship application form from the Internet as it has been made available to the Youths of Punjab.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Chief Minister of Punjab, pointed out that there was a huge market for shrimp farming in the country and the world for that matter.
Additionally, she pointed out that it is possible to practice shrimp farming on land measuring 100,000 acres and make foreign exchange earnings of more than a billion US dollars.
To boost the practice, the government will provide land, equipment on hire as well as concessions to the farmers as well as the investors interested in the practice.
It is anticipated that the establishment of shrimp farming will give direct employment to about 10,000-20,000 individuals in the Punjab region. Chief Minister Sharif urged the young people to make use of this chance and work towards attaining self-employment as well as becoming financially independent through shrimp farming.
