CM Punjab Maryam rejects double-decker bus fare hike

LAHORE: The notification of increase in double-decker bus fares has been withdrawn on the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

As per the reports, the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) has increased the fares of Lahore’s tourist bus service from Rs 200 to Rs 500, while it has proposed an increase of Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000 for corporate events, educational institutions and commercial activities.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed her displeasure over the increase in the fares of buses plying on three tourist routes in Lahore and directed the TDCP officials to restore the previous fares.

Following her orders, the old fares of TDCP double-decker buses have been restored.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stressed that the double-decker bus service was started for public entertainment, any increase in fares would put unnecessary burden on the public.

She reiterated his commitment to providing the best tourism facilities to the public at minimal charges.
