ISLAMABAD: The US Embassy in Islamabad strongly condemned the brutal attack on the Jaffar Express train and the hostage-taking of passengers in the Kachi area of Balochistan.
The attack, which was claimed by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) — a US-designated global terrorist organization — has been widely condemned.
In an official statement on its X account, the US Embassy expressed its deepest sympathies to the victims, their families, and all those affected by this tragic incident.
“We strongly condemn the attack on the Jaffar Express train and the hostage-taking of passengers. The Pakistani people deserve to live free from violence and fear,” the statement said.
Reiterating its commitment to Pakistan’s security, the US pledged to stand with the country in its efforts to combat terrorism. “The United States remains a steadfast partner of Pakistan in its efforts to ensure the safety and security of all its citizens. We stand in solidarity with Pakistan in this difficult time,” the embassy added.
According to security sources, the rescue operation to free the Jaffar Express from the terrorists has entered its final stages. The train’s departure has been suspended for three days due to security concerns amid the ongoing security operation in Bolan city of Balochistan.
According to security sources, 190 passengers have been safely evacuated so far while 30 terrorists have been killed during the operation. They said that a large number of hostage passengers, including women and children, who were being used as human shields, have been rescued.
