Lahore: In her maiden speech in the Punjab Assembly after being elected as Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz announced significant relief measures for electricity consumers in the province.

These measures differ from the pledges made by her party leaders during the election campaign, including PML-N Vice President Hamza Shehbaz Sharif’s promise of providing 300 units of electricity ‘free of cost’ if his party came into power.

Similar pledges were also made by other political parties like the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP). However, Maryam Nawaz outlined a different relief plan, stating that her government would offer solar systems to those consuming up to 300 electricity units per month. Additionally, she promised to launch a free wifi program in Lahore, with plans to expand it to other cities in subsequent phases.
