KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has declared an emergency in the water-starved districts of Sindh amid the severe water crisis in the province.
As per details, the CM has issued instructions to the Irrigation Department to immediately release water in the canals that have been dried due to water shortage.
Murad Ali Shah said that the canals have dried up due to severe water scarcity in the Indus River.
He also directed the Minister for Irrigation to take steps to ensure the proper supply of water.
On the other hand, CM Sindh has also set up a task force on Sunday in the metropolitan city to eradicate drinking water theft, leaks, illegal hydrants and wastage.
The task force will conduct a major operation against illegal connections in the next two days along with police, rangers and concerned engineers.
CM also instructed to provide water to the different areas of the city keeping the population size in view and to map out the distribution system in the city.
“If a town has more population, it should be given more water than the town having less population,” he said.
