PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has announced a significant increase in the package of assistance being provided to the families of the personnel who sacrificed their lives during the cross-border aggression by Indian forces in May.
This escalation, which went on for four days, came on the heels of Indian strikes on the territory of its neighboring country, resulting in what can rightly be termed as “one of the most serious military crises between India and Pakistan in recent years,” considering that both countries are nuclear states.
A minimum of 70 persons were killed in the fighting, which included personnel of Pakistan’s security forces.
In a session held with the families of the martyrs hailing from the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Chief Minister approved an amount of PKR 5 million for each family.
This results in an increased level of compensation of PKR 10 million for each family, considering the new compensation package for martyrs from KP, as an expression of appreciation for their supreme sacrifice for the province.
The chief minister also announced an increase in financial support for injured personnel. The financial aid for injured personnel has been increased from Rs1 million to Rs2.5 million in an effort to assist injured persons in dealing with their health costs and stabilizing their lives after serving at the front.
Speaking before the families who lost their loved ones in the attack, Afridi reiterated that their government was always with them.
“They who give their lives for the sake of truth recognize the highest honor. The sacrifice made by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the spine of our security,” he said.
He ended by assuring the families that the provision of assistance through the compensation package for the KP martyrs would not cease, with the government being actively involved in their care and welfare.
