RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has stressed the importance of self-responsibility, saying that each of us should focus on our duties and performance instead of getting involved in “baseless criticism”.

Radio Pakistan reported on Sunday that while interacting with students at various universities in Bahawalpur on Saturday, the army chief stressed the army’s commitment to nurturing the nation’s youth.

He encouraged the students to pursue academic excellence with dedication and equip themselves with the necessary skills to play a meaningful role in national development.

General Munir lauded the vital role of the youth in shaping Pakistan’s future and reiterated the army’s support for initiatives that strengthen the capabilities of the youth.

He said that as long as great mothers continue to sacrifice their children for Pakistan and the youth stand with the armed forces, nothing can harm the country.

The army chief said that an organised illegal spectrum backs terrorism and some elements provide it with support. He said that whenever the state takes action against them, their false narratives are spread to undermine their efforts.

Highlighting the blessings of Pakistan, COAS Munir termed the country as a precious gift from Allah Almighty, which has been blessed with many blessings.

He urged the audience to remain steadfast in their beliefs, remember their ancestors and uphold the basic values of the society.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief visited Bahawalpur cantonment a day ago, where he was briefed on operational preparedness.

Addressing the officers and troops, he appreciated their unwavering dedication, high morale and combat readiness.

General Munir reiterated that rigorous training is the main pillar of a soldier’s professional development and it should continue to be a commendable feature of the Pakistan Army to overcome the challenges of modern warfare.

The Army Chief was received by Corps Commander Bahawalpur upon his arrival.

He also inaugurated the CMH Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS), Innovista Cholistan and Integrated Combat Simulator Arena. During his visit to Bahawalpur Cantonment, important steps were taken to advance medical education, information technology and combat readiness.
