COAS Gen Asim Munir warns of action against those threatening national security

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir has said that those who obstruct national security and prevent the army from performing its duties will have to face consequences.

Addressing the Apex Committee meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, the Army Chief stressed that every Pakistani is a soldier in the war against terrorism, whether in uniform or not. He said that we should all unite to fight the scourge of terrorism.

He added that the Constitution of Pakistan is of importance to everyone. It entrusts the responsibility of internal and external security of Pakistan to the army and whoever obstructs the security of the country or obstructs the work of the army will have to face consequences.

General Syed Asim Munir also said that the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies are continuously removing the shortcomings of governance by sacrificing the lives of their martyrs.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while addressing the Apex Committee meeting, stressed the need for economic and political stability to ensure the country’s development and prosperity, urging everyone to play their part.

He said that Pakistan’s economy is gradually becoming stable with collective efforts at the federal and provincial levels. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed.

He said that development and prosperity are linked to stability and no society can move forward without it. He stressed on open debate and active participation to achieve this goal.
