Constitutional amendment delayed: National Assembly & Senate meetings postponed

ISLAMABAD: The meetings of the National Assembly and the Senate on the proposed constitutional amendments have been adjourned till tomorrow (Monday).

According to media reports, the meeting of the federal cabinet will be held tomorrow.

Earlier today, the session of the National Assembly was adjourned after starting after some time.

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq presided over the session of the National Assembly, when the motion to postpone the question period and call for attention was presented, which was approved by the House.

The meeting of the National Assembly was adjourned till 12:30 pm tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Senate meeting has also been adjourned till 12:30 pm tomorrow.

In a separate meeting of the Parliamentary Special Committee, the opposition and government parties gave conditional support to the establishment of the Constitutional Court.

According to reports, PTI, JUI and the ruling coalition parties agreed on the conditional formation of the court.

In the meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rahman said that he cannot support the government on the issue of extension of tenure.

Number game for constitutional amendment

Khawaja Asif admitted that the government did not complete the number game, that is why the session of the National Assembly had to be adjourned.

He said that it seems that the number has not been reached, so the meeting had to be adjourned. We didn’t support, I don’t think the legislation will happen tomorrow.
