RAWALPINDI: Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief and former interior minister Sheikh Rashid on Sunday warned the government that if Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was arrested then the country would be turned into Sri Lanka.
In a press conference, pointing towards the anti-government protests which led to chaos and anarchy in Sri Lanka, Sheikh Rashid said, “I do not want the country to become Sri Lanka. It’s not the time for politics. It is time to protect the homeland.” He said all the political parties should hold a meeting and bring an interim government to hold next general elections.
“The country is heading towards revolution. The government will begin arresting people before May 18,” he said adding that Imran Khan’s life was at stake.
He said Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah was a contract killer who had butchered 22 people.
The AML chief said Imran Khan had become a hero and the other party leaders had become zero. All the political parties had been ruined, only their dead bodies would come from abroad, he maintained.
“If Nawaz Sharif comes back, the passengers will get down from the plane. The passengers will say that they will not travel with the thieves,” he said.
He said it would further be a service to Imran Khan, if elections were delayed. They were unable to tackle the government affairs, he said lashing out at the government.
Sheikh Rashid said inflation had inflated 30 per cent more. He said the government returned empty handed from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and China.
