Teenage girls burn father to death in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: Two daughters have been arrested for setting their father ablaze in Gujranwala’s Mughal Chowk area, police said on Tuesday.

According to the details, the daughters tied their father, Ali Akbar, 45, with ropes and set him on fire, which led to his death from severe burn injuries.

Police registered the case under Sections 302, 32,4 and 34 of the Criminal Procedure Code and arrested the deceased’s daughters, Anam (16) and Yashfa (12).

In their statement to the police, the girls confessed to dousing their father with petrol extracted from a motorcycle while he was sleeping.

Akbar’s daughters told police that their father had sexually assaulted them.

The first information report (FIR), lodged by the victim’s sister, has also named Akbar’s second and third wives as co-accused in the crime.

Initial investigation revealed that Ali Akbar had three marriages and a total of twelve children.

His first wife had passed away, and he was living in a rented home with his two surviving wives and children.
