Female TikToker detained in Muzaffargarh for blasphemous content

MUZAFFARGARH: A female TikToker was arrested in Punjab’s Muzaffargarh area for sharing blasphemous content on social media.

The incident took place two days ago in the district’s Jatoi tehsil. However, she was arrested after a local man filed a complaint against her for alleged blasphemy.

The blasphemous content was allegedly shared by the woman on her TikTok status, which was recorded by the complainant and presented to the police as evidence.

A case has been registered against the female accused under sections 295A and 298A of the Pakistan Penal Code.

District Police Officer Dr. Rizwan Ahmed Khan told the media that the woman was arrested two days ago, adding that the court sent her on judicial remand on Friday.

Section 295-A of the Pakistan Penal Code criminalizes acts intentionally and maliciously intended to hurt the religious feelings of any class of citizens by insulting their religion or religious beliefs, punishable by imprisonment or fine or both.
