Islamabad Police detain suspect in IIUI student murder case

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq said on Monday that the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police has arrested the main accused involved in the brutal murder of a 22-year-old student at the International Islamic University by tracing the case blindly using modern investigative techniques.

DIG Tariq held a press conference at Rescue 15 in which he was accompanied by SSP Investigation, SP Saddar Zone, DSP CIA and other senior police officers. He said that the accused has been identified as Feroz, a resident of Jhang, who had gone into hiding after committing the crime.

DIG Tariq said that the accused entered the Kainat Girls Hostel with criminal intent and opened fire, resulting in the tragic death of Iman, a student of the university.

DIG Tariq said that several police teams were formed under the supervision of SSP Operations and SSP Investigations, which worked day and night to track down the accused using Safe City camera footage, sketches of the suspect and videos obtained from nearby buildings.

DIG Tariq said that the arrested accused has a criminal history that includes several incidents of rape and motorcycle theft.

The DIG said that a case has been registered against the accused, and a thorough investigation is being conducted. He said that the accused will be presented in court with solid evidence so that he gets appropriate punishment.
