Man commits suicide after slitting throats of four children

PESHAWAR: In a tragic incident in the Swabi district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reports say that the man took his life after slitting the throats of his four innocent children. The victims are identified as two boys and two girls aged between two and 12 years.

Police stated that the event took place on Thursday in the Sarra Cheena locality of Dobian, where 42-year-old Saif-ul-Islam used some sharp-edged weapon to kill his children, identified as Zia (12), Abdul Rehman (10), Sana (8), and a two-year-old unidentified girl.

Rescue 1122, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa received information about the killing of the four children by their father, who then took his own life inside their home sending shockwaves through the community.

This raised the issue of resourcing to support families embroiled in domestic disputes so that similar tragedies do not occur again. The deceased were between the ages of two to twelve years old and were males and females.

Two ambulances of Rescue 1122 were despatched for the transportation of the deceased bodies, which were later transferred to Hospital Yar Hussain. The district police chief of Swabi, Asghar Khan, said that a dispute between his wife and brother led to this tragic incident.

After a domestic dispute, the man’s wife had with her parents has been implicated in bringing forth suicidal tendencies in him.

The police officer confirmed that after murdering his children, the man killed himself, and he died on the spot. The incident is under scrutiny, and information is being gathered concerning the nature of the tragedy which has occurred.

The community is shocked and is requesting resources and support to help manage domestic disputes in hopes that more loss and tragedy may be avoided in the future.
