BAHAWALPUR: The bodies of eight Pakistanis brutally murdered in Iran were brought to Bahawalpur Airport by a special plane late Wednesday night.

The plane landed in the Iranian city of Zahedan so that the bodies could be collected before being flown back to Pakistan.

A grand condolence ceremony was held at the airport to pay their respects to the deceased, attended by civil and military officials.

The ceremony was also attended by Iranian officials and other high-ranking representatives, including the governor of Zahedan, who paid tribute to the slain Pakistanis.

The bodies were later taken by road to the deceased’s hometown of Ahmadpur Sharqia.

Eight Pakistani nationals were killed on Saturday in Hazabad village in Mehrestan district of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province.

The deceased were identified as mechanics who were shot dead while working in a workshop.

Iranian media reports said the deceased were mechanics.

The workshop owner, Dilshad, and his son Naeem, along with Jafar, Danish and Nasir, all from Punjab, are among the victims.

The Iranian embassy has strongly condemned the cowardly attack on Pakistani citizens.

The Iranian embassy spokesperson said that terrorism is a long-standing plague and a common threat to the entire region.

The embassy said that treacherous elements are targeting peace and stability in collaboration with international terrorists.
