RAWALPINDI: The Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi has banned drone operations and related activities within a five-kilometer radius of Islamabad International Airport, Noor Khan (Chaklala) Airbase and Qasim Airbase. The decision is aimed at reducing the risk of bird strikes and ensuring aviation safety.

The restrictions also cover flying pigeons, keeping pigeons in large cages, flying kites, and dumping garbage or animal remains, especially from sacrificial animals, near the airport premises and the landing or take-off zones of aircraft. Violators will face legal action and possible arrest.

The ban was announced after a meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Ehsan Tariq, who ordered its immediate implementation. Authorities have been directed to launch inspection and monitoring operations to ensure strict compliance.

The meeting also discussed cleanliness around airports on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, with special attention being paid to areas like Khurram Colony, Sadiqabad, Koral Chowk, Dhok Hafiz, and Chah Sultan. The concerned departments have been directed to maintain hygiene and proper waste management at these locations.
