Early summer vacations in Sindh schools amid heatwave?

KARACHI: The Sindh government has denied reports regarding early summer vacations and has decided that vacations in schools will start as originally planned.

Earlier, there were reports that due to the increase in heat intensity, the provincial government might close schools early.

According to a notification issued by the School Education and Literacy Department today, the two-month summer vacations for all institutes will start on June 1 and continue till July 31.

According to the notification, the summer vacations are being sanctioned as per the decision of the steering committee.

It is pertinent to mention that the Punjab government had announced early holidays for all public and private schools from May 25 to 31 because of the scorching heat.The decision to add seven more holidays was taken to prioritize students’ safety and comfort as scorching heat waves grip the region.

A similar proposal was under consideration in Sindh but the government decided against it.
