ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Economic Affairs’ official X account was hacked last night after a post went viral from the account asking for loans from friendly countries.
The spokesperson of the ministry has confirmed the breach, saying that any post made from this account has no association with the ministry until we secure it.
The relevant authorities have been informed, and efforts are underway to recover the account. The public has been urged to disregard any recent posts from the compromised account, he added.
It is worth mentioning that the National Cyber Emergency Response Team (PakCERT) had already issued an alert in response to rising tensions between Pakistan and India, warning government institutions of potential cyberattacks and advocating for stronger digital security standards.
Authorities have initiated a thorough investigation into the incident, and cybersecurity professionals are actively working to secure the hacked account and prevent future intrusions.
