ECP changes election schedule

The scrutiny of nomination papers for candidates on specific seats will continue until January 13.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has made amendments to the schedule regarding specific seats for the upcoming general elections in 2024. The Election Commission has extended the deadline for scrutiny of nomination papers for specific seats.

The scrutiny of nomination papers for candidates on specific seats will continue until January 13. The schedule allows Returning Officers to decide on appeals against decisions until January 16. The Election Tribunal will then adjudicate on these appeals by January 19.

On January 20, the list of candidates will be finalized, and candidates will have until January 22 to withdraw their nomination papers. The final list of candidates will be published on January 23.

These adjustments aim to ensure a thorough and transparent scrutiny process, providing ample time for the review of nomination papers and resolution of appeals. The Election Commission’s commitment to a fair and efficient electoral process is evident in these changes, fostering confidence in the upcoming democratic exercise.
