RAWALPINDI: Educational institutions in Rawalpindi have reopened after 4 days due to protests by a religious group.

All the closed connection roads in the federal capital, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi have been reopened, after which traffic is flowing on Murree Road and other routes.

On the other hand, shops and commercial centers have also opened on Rawalpindi Murree Road; however, the route from Murree Road to Faizabad and the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro bus service are also closed.

Meanwhile, IGP Road, Double Road, and Expressway have been restored for traffic, while the Double Road Ninth Avenue route from Rawalpindi has been opened.

Mobile phone and data services have also been restored in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Earlier, Schools in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad continued to be in limbo amid the constant protests by a political religious party and increased security protocols.

Authorities still have not made it clear if schools and colleges will resume classes on Monday, October 13, or stay shut.

This comes after road barricades due to rallies and sit-ins have crippled transport and communication links in the three cities. Authorities had previously announced the closure of schools before the long march to Islamabad, based on security reasons.

Private school organizations also made Saturday a holiday in the three cities.
